HMS General Hunter was a British warship that fought in numerous actions in the war of 1812. It was captured by the Americans in the Battle of Lake Erie and later shipwrecked on Southampton beach where it lies buried. more >

The Port Elgin Beach Volleyball Club (PEBVC) was founded in 2007 offering 2 courts of recreational drop in play 2 nights a week. League play was started in 2009 with 4 courts, 1 night a week. We have since grown to have 8 courts at the main beach in Port Elgin, Ontario. We offer programs 4 days a week including adult leagues, tween, teen, & kids programs. more >

The Spring & Summer Hiking schedule is shaping up with our annual Birding Hike, our Peninsula End-to-End, a Beaver Valley End-to-End, the popular Easy Walks, as well as the newer Art and Hike offerings. Its about a 30 minute drive to Wiarton to access the trail from Southampton.

The Bruce Power Vistors’ Centre invites guests to learn about power generation in Ontario and discover interesting facts about Bruce Power – North America’s largest nuclear power generating site. Admission is free. The Visitors’ Centre is open to the public Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. year-round as well as Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., in July and August. Closed statutory holidays.

The Saugeen First Nation has a competition Pow-wow on the second weekend of August showcasing competitional drum and high caliber dancing, contemporary Native music, fireworks, 100% handmade crafts and authentic food like fish and chips or fry bread.
