A Bit About Our History

The Rotary Huron Shore Run began in 1988, as the Huron Shore Run and Beachwalk. The hospital administrator at that time was Carl Crymble. Carl Crymble and Doctor McCullough spent, two weeks preparing for the run, which raised $700 to purchase supplementary supplies for the hospital. By 1992 it was decided that this fundraiser was getting too big for two people to manage.

At this time the Rotary Clubs of Southampton, and Port Elgin were asked to take over. The rest is history, members of each club have jointly committeed this worthwhile venture to this day. For the past nine years our run has donated the proceeds to the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation and local Rotary projects. The run annually attracts over 200 participants, and enlists the help of the entire community of Saugeen Shores.

Sanctioned by the Ontario Roadrunners Association as a Class A fun run, we attract people from all over Ontario. Because of the generosity of everyone in Saugeen Shores and all of our participants, our contributions help to maintain the superior services provided by our local hospital.

Thank you, in advance
